1 Year Wedding Anniversary Cake Tradition

Friday, October 12, 2018

This past Friday we celebrated our one year wedding anniversary. We had a weekend-long celebration exploring the breathtaking Santa Catalina Island. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect anniversary weekend together!

My mom was kind enough to preserve the top tier of our wedding cake for us and surprisingly, it still tasted great. This tradition in preserving the top tier of your wedding cake and eating it a year later is known as an omen for good luck, and I'm all about any good vibes lol. It also helps that we got to relive, tastefully speaking, one of the most special (and scrumptious!) moments we've ever shared. I barely remembered what flavor our wedding cake was until I took a bite. That’s when I realized yet another great life decision was made last year ;-) How right everyone was in warning us prior to our wedding day: You prepare for the event of a lifetime for sooooo long, and then in a blink of an eye that magical day vanishes with little recollection. Now fully understanding that piece of knowledge, of course it made complete sense that I would have cake-flavor-amnesia lol. To further commemorate our special milestone, I added fresh floral's and a cute glitter cake topper! It was also a really nice excuse to break out our gorgeous custom cake knife and server set that we haven't used since our day of wedded bliss. All items have been linked below.
