Persian New Year 2022 | Norooz 1401
Thursday, March 10, 2022It would only make sense to incorporate the Cheshm Nazar (evil eye) into my sofreh theme this year, as it's been a big trend in jewelry, clothing, home decor, nail designs, even flowers, and placed all over social media. It's so funny that it's become so trendy, as it was merely a staple in mine, and many other, Persian homes since I was born and for generations prior...only it wasn't as cool as it is today.
What exactly is the cheshm nazar you ask? The evil eye (🧿) is a powerful and protective symbol, that sees all ignorance and wickedness and reflects it back to the one casting it via its glare. Known as the Nazar, meaning “vision” in Arabic, this type of amulet is meant to ward off evil and negativity for the wearer.
I think it's safe to say that we could all use a little protective "nazar" every now and then in our lives ;-)
